I’m not a privileged white person.

I was born into a poor family, my father could not find work due to a disability and my mother was a high school drop out. My father had a degree in Psychology. He interviewed for jobs but was not hired because “they could not read his handwriting.” My father was born with tremors, causing his hands to shake constantly. After years of denial, he filed for disability and my mom worked as a housekeeper to help make ends meet. Most think that because a person has white skin that they have the upper hand in the world. Although I was not born into a family with money, I am here trying to change my social status and change the way that the people that truly know me and how they perceive me. I am here to show that no matter the cards that you have been dealt in life you can change the outcome if you try.
