What is it like to be White?

Raymond Currie,

Thanks to the Race Card Project for the opportunity to say this. I often wonder, but could never say to my friends or family; it must be nice to be white?
What is it like:… to be welcomed and treated with respect no matter what country one visits,
to be given the best service and room instead of the worst when checking into hotels,
to take the road less traveled without fear of backwoods racism?

What is it like…to be limited only by one’s own efforts and not the color of one’s skin,
to have access to the best institutions in the world,
without having some type of “program”to receive immediate recognition for one’s efforts and not having to fight for it?

What is it like…
to have enormous wealth passed down to you,
to receive the best positions or promotions,
to be highly compensated instead of being under paid for accomplishing more?
When I see white people complaining about affirmative action in employment and race as admission to higher educational institutes, I think how arrogant and greedy, you have it all and don’t want to give an inch.
