Mexican but not always okay sharing

Guadalupe Madrigal
Riverside, CA

I am first generation born in the U.S. proud of heritage and of the U.S. both. When I was growing I had to be careful when and where to say I was Mexican. It was a matter of being humiliated, bullied, or accepted. I was so insecure that i kept to myself because of this and did not develop healthy social skills, all behind my heritage.
