These are my children, enough said!

Jill Dziko

As the white mother of 4 children of color, I am constantly being asked if they are my kids. When they were very young I learned to say, “These are my children” and that no other explanation was necessary! My kids think it funny that I am the only white one in our family, for me it is a constant reminded of the privilege I have as a whiter person that my children do not. As an adoption professional I feel it is imperative I fully prepare families for the realities of trans-racial adoption and that love, while a good place to start, is not enough!
