I try but stereotypes still linger

Anastasia Rogers,
Detroit, MI.

I am a firm believer that everyone, no matter if you’re a man, woman, or something in between, black, white, Asian, or a different race, should be treated equally and with respect. That being said, I often find myself making snap, harsh judgments about people that I’ve never even had a conversation with purely because of their race. I try to check myself and say “whoa there Stasia, you don’t know that person, that was super racist of you.” Unfortunately, I know I don’t always do this because it just makes life so much easier to but people in boxes. I don’t want to become that quite racist just so my life can be easier, so, for me, stereotypes are a constant struggle.
