When it hurts to be different

Aretha,
Toledo, OH

Not all differences are embraced and celebrated. There has been times I have felt uncomfortable in situations and circumstances for being different, especially being around others who were different than me. I’m certain that there were also times I made others feel uncomfortable for being who I am around them. How often do we not only immediately recognize that others are different than us but also embrace and accept them immediately for it? Do we live our lives as though we are higher, better, or more important that they are.

It hurts to be different and it hurts to be discriminated against for one’s difference. There are times in life where everyone will or have already been discriminated against. Classism, Racism, Sexism, Heterosexism, Ageism, Ableism and Religious Oppression plays a part of discrimination in our society today. It is something some of us know too well and a real life struggle for many.

Here is a list of only 15 “ It hurts to be discriminated against” post and examples of differences. I would like for this conversation to continue, and I’m looking for a goal of 2015 before the end of the year, please post and spread any further thoughts, Please add a post!
