Ever since I can remember people have been shocked to see what my dad looks like. My nana is 100% Japanese and my papa is Irish/American. So my dad looks very Japanese, even for being only half. My mom is a white woman with blonde hair and blue eyes. My dad has the Asian appearance with brown eyes and black spiky straight hair. I definitely look like my mom with my blue eyes but with brown hair instead of blonde. What amazes me is that people don’t understand you don’t always look exactly like your parents and that’s okay. Just because I am different, however, does not give you the right to make Asian jokes around me. No, I do not look very Japanese but I am and my nana would beg to differ. I will snap on you if I hear the Asian jokes, not only are they racist but it makes you look like a complete idiot.
