I chose these words based on an interaction I had with a close friend who believed social justice work isn’t necessary anymore because racism doesn’t exist in our society. I was so taken aback that I didn’t even know how to respond to him. As I come to think about race more and more, this interaction continues to come to mind. It is the first thing that I think about when I consider what White Privilege is. And it has forced me to reflect more on other ways white privilege permeates my life, much like the race card project was designed to do.
