Race studies student. Americans seem to think that being colorblind is a solution when in fact it is a tool to maintain White supremacy. The colorblind mentality is the denial of the history of people of color and supports the institutional racism deeply embedded in American culture as many can attest to today. The public school system continues to teach the master narrative of White history for the maintenance of hierarchical social order. Being colorblind IS NOT an option.
