My kid’s names will be normal

As a conscious black man in America, I’m aware of the institutional racism that still exist. I am an educator in the urban community and have seen some names that will hinder some of my students from getting picked out of the pile of resumes. I’m thankful my parents named my brother and I common, easy-to-pronounce names. I will do the same for my children. My wife and I have chose the names Joshua, Brayden, Caleb, and Parker. Only one name has a red line under it when you type it in Microsoft Word. I’ve seen that name frequently in the white community but the ‘y’ is added to make it feminine. I’m not doing this out of fear, I’m doing this for the advancement of my children. Racist, no, smart, yes.
