My grandsons will be free, someday

My grandsons have only known a Black president their whole young lives … they have yet to experience racism, yet I know they will … here in Arizona, and elsewhere. I hope – though I may not believe – that someday they will be free of the BEA (Black Experience in America) … that they won’t experience what so many generations of Black men (and what Kiese Laymon described as) being “born on parole” in a nation where the privilege of being White is never having to consider whether your race is a factor in what happens to you.
