How many times I’ve heard this in my life. As a child very often when visiting the US (my dad is Sri Lankan). Occasionally still even now. I never get used to it.

Sezin’s 6 word essay sparked a unique conversation on Twitter…take a look.

She’s not your mom, she’s white.

You can’t imagine the kinds of things I’ve heard about me, being a bi-racial Third Culture Kid.

The worst places have actually been the US and the Czech Republic. So much (hidden) racism.

Irony is I actually look *exactly* like my Caucasian mother, except with darker skin.

Really? They’re actually quite xenophobic in general, but they esp. despise people of color.

To an extent, but they are generally distrustful of anyone who isn’t Czech, white or not.

I’m always shocked. Even though it happens to me so often, I can’t get used to it.

Bigotry is beyond understanding, It pains me so deeply to see such hatred and fear.
