Don’t tell me what I am

ZaKaria,
Snellville, GA

Growing up people believed because i only look African American that that’s all I was which is understandable. However,

I am also Dominican and it was hard to show my heritage as a little girl because i let others tell me that i can’t be because latinos only look one way. Especially because I wasn’t taught the language as a kid it was even harder although my last name is Cruz. I used to not

tell anyone unless they asked just due to the hardship at a young age. As I am 22 years old currently I have showed proud ownership of my race as well as my ethnicity and nobody can tell me what I am or am not based on how I look.
