Because of you, it was possible.

Bill Parker

This is what my childhood black friend told me after Barack Obama was elected President of the United States. I am white. He and his brother were best friends with my brother and I in upstate NY in the 60’s and 70’s. People used to say we were “the four brothers”. When I called him after the election (we had lost touch for decades), and we cried together, he told me “It was because of people like you and your siblings, that I always thought this day was possible.” One of the two or three nicest things people have ever said to me.
