Doubling Down on the Race Card

President Barack Obama has too much grace or perhaps it is too much political presence to play the race card. So, I’m going to play it for him and raise the ante. From the “you lie” shout during the State of the Union Address to the terrible debacle of legislative gridlock, some political leaders. Let’s name them: Hardline GOPers have disrespected America’s first black President. Perhaps it is unconscious on a day-to-day basis, driven by the intrinsic institutional racism of our country. Perhaps it is mean-spirited, jealousy. Whatever its origins, Barack Obama is engulfed in our country’s race issues.
