As a white female that grew up in a latino and black populated area with an English as a Second Language teacher as a mother, I’ve always been aware of my racial identity and the privilege it provides me. As I grow older, I am becoming more aware of how I can use that privilege to fight against the institutional racism that benefits me in the first place.
