I am very confused about my identity and what parts of my background are “mine to use”. I was born in Mexico and lived there for my toddler years but I am only 25% Latin, with the rest being Scottish and Swiss. My mother, who is half Guatemalan, grew up in Guatemala, and “raised me Latina” taught me Spanish and such. I “look foreign” (at least enough to be harassed) but I don’t know what I am supposed to say about my race, as I am pretty much white.
