I’ve come across this “benign” stereotyping from children on an infrequent but still significant basis. I live in a town with very few Asian residents, and it usually, but not always, children who openly ask breathtakingly offensive questions based on media stereotypes. Along with my Six Words, I’ve also had someone delight in the fact that their favorite Chinese restaurant delivers; they made the assumption because they saw me leaving the restaurant with my carryout order.
