Soul over body, love over fear

Charlie Rice,
Douglasville, GA

As a transgender person, I am often reduced to being no more than the body I was born in, and oftentimes that leads to my entire person being overlooked. People automatically have a thousand assumptions about me before they know the first thing about who I am, and even people I’ve known for years have done the same. Being trans is an important part of me, but it’s not all that I am. All I want is to be loved as I was before.
