“Change your English level to native”

Silvia Zorrilla,
Seattle, WA

After applying to jobs for over a year and not getting a single call back for interviews, a local independent recruiter told me to change my English level in my resume to native. I had listed it as advanced since English is not my first language. I was very skeptical. Surely this had nothing to do with my 40+ applications not being considered, surely. However, I went ahead and changed it. I applied that week for two jobs and got called for both – ended up getting an offer for both.
