The Race Card Project Spotlight School
The Race Card Project, by Michele Norris, is proud to partner with Elizabethtown College to engage the campus community in deep and meaningful reflection related to race and identity.
It all started in 2015, when Dr. Richard Newton, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies, helped his Religion 101 students to start their own six-word-story initiative in response to a bias incident at the College. The class’ collection of more than 300 stories effectively launched a campus-wide discussion about race, diversity, and inclusive excellence that continues to this day. In October 2016, Dr. Newton’s students ran a video booth that invited the community to share thoughts, ideas, and suggestions for “next steps”. The prompt: “What can the College do to become truly inclusive?” Read more about The Race Card Project at Elizabethtown.
